In announcing Virtual Retreat 2020, Conductors Retreat at Medomak Founder and Director, Kenneth Kiesler said, "We have always endeavored to advance our conductors' skills and artistic sensibilities right along with personal authenticity and musical integrity.  Connecting people, and serving causes greater than ourselves, have also been among our highest priorities. In this time of isolation and distance from one another, we hope to create a community of conductors, and those who aspire to conduct, for this multi-faceted, diverse, and exciting program, and we offer it to everyone free of charge, as our gift."

The Conductors Retreat faculty are joined by 4 distinguished former Medomak musicians and 13 accomplished alumni of the Conductors Retreat at Medomak to present a holistic program that includes individual conducting coaching, score study, conducting technique, historical and cultural context, score reading and aural skills, rehearsing, string playing, and explorations of a wide range of contemporary issues confronting conductors, ensembles, and their communities. During the 18-day Retreat, the group will delve into music of John Adams, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Revueltas, and Shostakovich.
