OPENING CONCERT July 1 at 2:00pm

Published Saturday, June 9, 2018

This is the annual opening concert of the Conductors Retreat at Medomak.  The Retreat's resident professional musicians present music of Beethoven, Judith Weir, and Brahms. The public is welcome to attend along with the many conductors who come to the Retreat from around the globe and all over the United States and Canada to participate in this intensive and distinguished 18-day program.

Resident Musicians: Danile Brottman, piano; Alexander Romanul and Rebecca Ansel, violins; Jennifer Herman, viola; Paul Brantley, cello; Margaret Hasspacher, bass

Beethoven       Piano Trio in Bb Major

Judith Weir     I Broke Off a Golden Branch

Brahms           Piano Quintet in F Minor

The resident musicians are each accomplished and highly regarded chamber musicians who have performed to acclaim nationally and internationally. During their three weeks in residence, they have many roles: They rehearse and perform this chamber music concert, serve as the ensemble for many hours of conducting teaching and practice sessions and, in the final days of the program, become the principal players of our full symphony orchestra for the exciting, final concert on Saturday, July 14th, at 2:00 at Medomak Family Camp, 178 Liberty Road, Washington, Maine.
